People ask me, “How are the hearing aids?” I simply tell them, “They are great, I can hear.”
I thought that having hearing aids might be annoying, and on the first day I wore them I mentioned to a friend that they may take some getting used to. My friend mentioned that both of us wear glasses and we got used to them. That changed my attitude and I figured wearing hearing aids would become second nature — they have, I hardly notice them.
Wearing the hearing aids allows me to hear conversations more clearly and sounds more distinctly. It’s a pleasure to be able to hear exactly what my 21-year-old daughter is saying. Even the little things are noticeable: I recently heard the fizz as I poured a soda. I haven’t heard that in years.
Dorothy's new hearing aids and earmolds have made significant improvements in her hearing and being able to keep them in her ears. I chose Albrecht Audiology last year for my hearing needs after an exhaustive search for hearing evaluation and hearing aid services in Hanover, Gettysburg, and State College, PA. I personally did research about and met with several hearing aid providers, including independent audiologists and Miracle Ear representatives.
A rubric of criteria that included such items as knowledgeability, service, price ranges and selections, patient interactions, and location was devised and utilized. On every measure, Albrecht Audiology came out on the top of my list. Thus, I went to Dr. Albrecht for evaluation.
I was not disappointed. The remote microphone system is miraculous! Soft-spoken people come through loud and clear. People wear so many gadgets these days — phones in their ears, for example — that this little transmitter and receiver won't draw attention. None of my friends have ever objected to wearing the mic.
Dr. Judith Albrecht began to ask questions about my problem. After that, she began to give me multiple tests. After the tests, she brought my wife in. She explained every part of the exam. She ordered a new aid. Later, I went back, and Judith did all the adjustments. I got my life back — I can hear things now.
The hearing aid that Bethaney prescribed for my high frequency hearing loss has had a profound impact on my day-to-day experience. I can relax and easily follow the conversations at work and with friends and family.
